Gonçalo L. Almeida (born 1998) is a film director and producer from Aveiro. He studied Cinema and Audiovisual at ESAP - Porto and since then has directed the short films ‘Musgo’ (2021) and ‘Cristóval - Pontebarxas’ (2022), co-directed with Alexandra Guimarães and exhibited at several national and international film festivals. He also directed the short documentary ‘A Reforma de Manuel Lima’ (2024) and the feature documentary ‘Aurinegro’ (2023) which had commercial premiere in Portugal. The feature film ‘The City and the Maps’, his most recent project with Alexandra Guimarães, won the Working Class Heroes grant from Porto/Post/Doc and will premiere at the end of 2026.
